10 Characteristics of Westminster Christians 10 Commitments & Values
The staff and elders of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Hueneme are committed to working toward the goal that as a result of participation in our corporate life and ministry, members and friends of Westminster shall be marked by: In order to be faithful  to a Biblical vision for the church, the elders and staff of Westminster affirm that by God's grace the following ten commitments and values shall mark our church:
  • a personal, saving and growing knowledge of God through a relationship with Jesus Christ, believing in Him and accepting His forgiving love;

  • daily prayer;

  • daily Bible reading marked by a response of obedience;

  • a commitment to public and private worship that is spiritual and truthful;

  • a participation in the family fellowship of the church community, marked by relationships of support, accountability and joy;

  • a heart of love, forgiveness and service for others

  • a transformed and exemplary life marked by the fruit of the Holy Spirit, acknowledging our ongoing need for grace;

  • a life that bears witness in word and deed that Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior;

  • the Holy Spirit's presence and power in life and ministry, knowing and using gifts to build up the church body;

  • the continual giving of self, including time, money and possessions, in the service of Jesus.
  • We believe that God fives primary and authoritative guidance for the church through the Bible.

  • We believe that a saving knowledge of God through a relationship of faith and trust in Jesus Christ is the purpose of life and the measure for everything the church is and does.

  • We believe that God has called us together in Christ to be a new community marked by grace, truth and love.

  • We believe that our life together is centered around the worship of God.

  • We believe that preaching, teaching and the sacraments hold primary position in worship.

  • We believe in the active ministry of the Holy Spirit who applies grace to our lives and gives ministry gifts to each of us.

  • We believe that all are called to ministry and to the stewardship of their gifts.

  • We believe that evangelism and discipling are at the heart of the church's mission.

  • We believe that Christ calls us to help those in need - without exception.

  • We believe that through prayer we will participate with Christ in the fulfillment of these beliefs.
